It always amazes me that the Art World lets critics and art pundits – characterized and stereotype artists with labels and their self-ingratiating opinions, most of which are reversed over time…. just ask the first impressionists. One of Americas greatest artist had to suffer through this art labeling legacy. His name is ANDREW WYETH. The real portrayal of Andrew Wyeth and his genius in the enchanted world he created is brought to life by his granddaughter Victoria Wyeth in her photographic book “MY ANDY”. As her grandfather once said “I PAINT MY LIFE”, so does Victoria not only reflects the family the created Art but lived Art with all their iconic muses. Her dialogue and photos dispel the limited virulent eyes and the myopic understanding of the abstract critics and their urban blindness. She makes us look through the shadows and drybrush of Andrew Wyeth’s message of his subjects and their symbolic portraits that have no end. Victoria’s use of black and white photographic images translates the same message.
Full Art Catalog will let every artist speak for himself or herself with their art… which is the most instrumental part of appreciating and buying ones art. Victoria’s book is a must read before the exhibition of Andrew Wyeth: In Retrospect at the Seattle Art Museum, 10/19/17- 1/15/18 celebrating the 100th anniversary of the artist birth.
…I also want to THANK JANE WYETH MY FRIEND AND VICTORIAS MOTHER FOR SENDING ME THIS COPY OF “MY ANDY”, HELPING ME UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF AN ARTISTS LIFE AND ITS REFLECTION OF THE MESSAGE IN THEIR WORK.
